Florida has its fair share of weather events including Hurricanes and Tornados.
It is important to be prepared, but don't let it consume and ruin your holiday.

Enable Automatic Alerts:Enable push notifications on your mobile "Cellular" phone. I cannot stress how useful this is for keeping "Ahead of the Storm"
Local and National Warnings:The news channels in Florida are excellent and up to the minute. Always keep an eye on them when bad weather may be an issue.
Plan to get out of the way:If a Hurricane is heading for Florida and you have the option to get away from its path, DO SO. It is not worth hanging around.
Follow Official Advice:If a mandatory evacuation is called for, you have to leave. Most counties have "Evacuation Centers" set up to keep you safe so USE THEM.

Locate Safe Shelter:Go to the basement or an interior room on the lowest floor (e.g. closet or bathroom). Stay away from windows.
Protect Your Body:Find some way to protect your head (Helmet etc), and cover yourself (Blanket or Tarp) to protect from flying debris.
